The school year has finished and much of the Zaccho youth programming is taking a well-deserved summer holiday. We look forward to seeing all of our youth back in the studio for Summer Camp and classes in the fall. Meanwhile, there is much to do for the older among us!

Dance & Place - site specific workshop on Mount Tamalpais
Join award-winning site-specific choreographer Joanna Haigood for a rare workshop opportunity on Mount Tamalpais.
Participants will engage with the ruins of the Mount Tamalpais "Radar Site" - once operated by the US Air Force - and will create a series of short studies, receive feedback and exchange ideas with other dance artists. The workshop will include a lecture at Zaccho Studio on the history and context of site specific dance followed by two days of creation at the Radar Site.

As part of ODC’s 2017 Walking Distance Dance Festival, Zaccho Dance Theatre will perform Between Me and the Other World, a powerful installation performance based on the writings of W.E.B. DuBois created by Joanna Haigood in collaboration with composer Dr. Anthony Brown, video artist David Szlasa, and scenic designer Sean Riley. Performed by Delvis Friñon, Latanya Tigner, Matthew Wickett, and Erica Wilson. Co-presented by ODC, the African and African-American Performing Arts Coalition and the Black Choreographers Festival: Here & Now.
You have two more chances to find your aerial yoga flow with Marie Walburg! Her delightful Embrace series combines new postures and fluid transitions to inspire your practice. Don’t worry if you missed previous classes, you are still welcome to join the end of the series.

A new quarterly program from Zaccho Studio’s Center for Dance and Aerial Arts, the Aerial Tea encourages experiments and innovation in work off-the-ground. Performers and audience members committed to the evolution of new work are welcome.
Spend the afternoon showing work and participating in a facilitated, Fieldwork-style peer feedback session, with snacks! Performance numbers are limited, please pre-register.

Belonging, Part One at Seaholm District Plaza
Experience Blue Lapis Light in an intimate, outdoor setting under the stars this fall at Seaholm District Plaza. Belonging, Part One highlights the beauty of our Earth, our relationship to one another, and the sustainability of our environment. This performance features digital projections, dancers on the Seaholm architecture, and aerialists swinging from the stacks.

Youth Taking Flight performance at The Carver Museum with Leap of Joy!
Blue Lapis Light collaborates with teens from local social service organizations to create original dance performances. This semester students at the Austin Children's Shelter presented Star Formation, a silks piece featuring 5 performers ages 10-20 at Leap of Joy's annual youth dance concert Care to Dance. Leap of Joy provides dance classes throughout Austin, moving to give at-risk youth empowerment through dance and performing arts.
Thank you Leap for Joy and Austin Children's Shelter for your incredible commitment to the kids! We look forward to performing with you in Care to Dance next April.
Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh
Blue Lapis Light is in Pennsylvania on Highmark in downtown Pittsburgh! Performances are June 2 & 3, 9pm at Three Rivers Arts Festival this weekend. We are thrilled to be in such a beautiful place, dancing on an incredible 300ft building. Thank you Pittsburgh for bringing Blue Lapis to your city. Let's Go Pens!!
